The Steel Framing Industry Association has released an updated video-based education program for building professionals.

Topics

The Steel Framing Industry Association (SFIA) has released, “SFIA 103-20 — Sustainability of Cold-Formed Steel (LEED Version 4),” the latest updated, video-based, cold-formed steel (CFS) educational program for SFIA members and non-member building professionals.

“We’re very excited about this latest education piece, because sustainability is so important to building owners and their design teams,” says Larry Williams, SFIA executive director. “In this program, participants will learn how cold-formed steel can help your next LEED project, and that makes it worth checking out.”

Sustainability and CFS framing

“SFIA 103-20 — Sustainability of Cold-Formed Steel (LEED Version 4),” a 38-minute course, introduces participants to the sustainability benefits of CFS framing, which includes material recyclability, energy savings and the steel industry’s greenhouse gas reductions.

The program also covers opportunities to increase building sustainability with CFS framing under the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED® system.

SFIA 103-20 is available in two formats:

  1. Video. SFIA 103-20 on YouTube can be viewed, at no charge, and also off the SFIA website, CFSteel.org under the Education tab (it is also available at the top of this post).
  2. PowerPoint. The SFIA 103-20 PowerPoint-based presentation can be obtained by qualified users to present live seminars where participants can earn AIA Continuing Education credits. See “Request AIA Provider Status” below.

AIA Continuing Education credits are available only to participants who attend live presentations.
